OHSAS 18001
- ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Standard was published in March 2018, with a three-year transitional period until 2021, replacing BS OHSAS 18001, which sets requirements for an occupational health and safety management system globally. After March 2021, BS OHSAS 18001 will be completely removed and all organizations will continue with this new standard.
In an organization that implements a management system according to this standard, health and safety risks will be identified and accident risks reduced. ISO 45001 aims to reduce risks, increase employee safety and create a perspective for organizations to create safer working conditions.
The ISO 45001 standard follows a similar system approach as other ISO management systems such as the globally accepted ISO 14001 or ISO 9001. The standard, which has been prepared in accordance with the Annex SL structure with updated revisions, provides better integration with other ISO system standards.
The standard includes new concepts such as the context of the organization, leadership, risks and opportunities, documented information and others; it also focuses more on risk management and continuous improvement.
